The girls returned home on Sat 20th, to find that Mike had covered the majority of the old kitchen floor with the new floor tiles. Zoe's dad helps to move the cooker, so that we tile and grout this area and also apply a piece of skirting. The tiles are laid and grouting is applied. It is a grey colour, but not quite what we expected (too light). Mike rakes the grout out and calls the tiling shop to see if they have a darker coloured grout, before returning to the shop to collect some. This is applied to the area around the cooker and the cooker is returned to it's position in time for Christmas. It takes some work to get the cooker level, but we're pleased with the fact that we can now cook again! Throughout this time work is not as fast as we would like, but with Christmas on the way we are distracted by various events and visitors. We decide that the work will not be complete, so we put the underfloor heating back on, down tools and enjoy a few days off.
