The turf arrives at around 8am. The Congleton Lawn Turf delivery lorry is huge, so the driver parks up on the corner of the street. A forklift truck delivers two pallets of turf and some fertiliser. It's thinner than we expected, but looks far nicer than our old lawns. After raking in the fertiliser Mike sets about turfing the front lawn. This is laid and cut by mid-afternoon.

Whilst D is asleep Zoe helps barrows through a pallet of turf to the back garden. The ground is fertilised and raked. Mike manages to put down 2/3 of the new lawn before we loose light. The front lawn gets watered using the sprinkler at the end of the day. Despite light rain early in the morning, it's been a nice day. Some of the turf rolls have been in the sun and are starting to look a bit dry at the edge. We've read that the turf needs to be put down within 24 hrs, and the early morning delivery suggests that it was cut on Wednesday night. We hope that leaving some of the rolls on a pallet overnight won't cause too much harm...

It feels like a major milestone - even though we can't use the grassed areas yet (not that it's stopped D running all over them!), it's as if we're regaining sense of normallity.
