Dave and Millie work on the handrails for the stairs, accompanied by Mark who arrives later in the day. By the end of the day we have handrails. The spindles are unpacked and Darcey enjoys playing with them. Spindles are fitted to the section on the landing. We keep an eye on Dave as he fits them – as a feature, and a way of being remembered, he’s threatened to install one upside down! ;)
Barry spends most of his time on site drilling large holes in walls to be used for extraction e.g. for the cooker and utility room.
A crane arrives on the back car park at 3pm. The container is removed from the back garden. We’re surprised to see long grass underneath it. The garden suddenly feels much bigger. We're also pleased that Darcey gets to watch it go, since she was at nursery when it arrived back in June.
Although it is nice to have the team on site, we’re relieved to have the house to ourselves at 3:30pm. It means we can close the external doors (to get the temperature up), clean the dust, and put some washing on… We’re looking forward to a couple of day’s reprieve before it all begins again!
