Alan and John re-route the ducting for the exisiting bathroom extrator fan. They also cut a hole in the wall between the stairs and the garage. It looks a bit like a serving hatch. Someone comes to measure the stairs, so the staircase can be made (apparently it should take a week). There may be an issue with head room clearance towards the botton fo the stairs - being a short family (height wise) we're not too bothered, besides the clearance level would be the same as the exisiting stairs so we can't see what all the fuss is about. We are given the choice of spindles. Zoe's not good with decisions - she originally wanted something less fussy (& easier to dust!) but thinks the originals look fine. Options are as the simple new style or the original style (from Cheshire Mouldings). Comments to help us decide are most welcome!
Our neighbour is planning cavity wall insulation, so we are not surprised to see Hillserve arrive. We are a little taken aback to learn that they are here to visit us. They fill the new kitchen walls with insulation. Apparently, we're having thermoboard in the rooms on the first floor, so cavity wall insulation isn't needed there. We're now glad that we had the original cavity knocked out as the space we gained will be taken up by this thick plasterboard.
Steve, from the kitchen company arrives after lunch. We discuss more options for the kitchen and he goes away to draw up a plan. As soon as he leaves Zoe wonders whether an under the counter fridge, as discussed, will work...
Mike arranges for our plumber to visit next week to install the new boiler.
Finally, just as we think everyone's finished for the day, a huge lorry arrives to deliver plasterboard and bags of plaster. There's a rumour that the plasterer might be on site next week... Everything feels like it's moving very rapidly!
